Watership Down is a multi-media franchise created by Richard Adams. The series is primarily based on the book Watership Down written by Adams in 1972.
The series focuses on rabbits and includes themes of spirituality, government, fascism and animal rights. It has been the subject of praise, and has also been the subject of Internet jokes due to its high-stakes plot where anyone can die, as well as its violent content The story focuses on a group of rabbits, led by Hazel, who flees his warren when his brother Fiver has a vision of their warren being destroyed. Thus begins a journey to Watership Down for their safety.
The IP is owned by Watership Down Enterprises, run by his daughters, following a legal battle against Martin Rosen, the director of the film.
