"The Wanderers" is the third episode of Season 3. The English-German translated title is "The Wanderer."
Plot synopsis[]
Vervain wanders about aimlessly, getting into all sorts of trouble.
Bigwig, meanwhile, continues to push his Owsla, who have slacked off in order to not work as they believe Woundwort is dead. Pipkin continues to train the junior owsla.
Campion, with Pipkin's help, is also beginning to regain his strength.
Vervain meets Aspen, a survivor of Efrafa's downfall who didn't travel to the down, only to abandon him after a weasel attacks them. Fiver, Primrose, Captain Holly, Captain Broom, Hannah and Kehaar, who are on a patrol, find Vervain's scent (and Aspen's, who it is heavily implied he is killed by the weasel) and attempt to track him down and take him back to the down. Vervain nearly drowns after he is entangled in a barbed wire filled pond, but the Watership Down rabbits rescue him (but only after Fiver pleads with them to save the drowning rabbit). They banish him, hopefully for good. Fiver has a vision telling the others Woundwort is alive on the way home (but collapses unconscious as a result) and Primrose tells Hazel this.
The junior owsla accidentally meet Campion while patrolling the down, and mistaking him for the Black Rabbit, run off. Meanwhile, Vervain is attacked by a weasel, but Woundwort saves him. The rabbit is stunned, but says, "Master, I live to serve you."
