The Last Battle is the first episode of Season 3 and the twenty-seventh episode overall. The English-German translated title is "Campion Lives."
"The Last Battle" is also the English-German translated title for the final episode of the series, "The Magic."
Plot synopsis[]
Hazel decides it's finally time to finish the battle once and for all, he gathers an army and he and his army slowly go deeper into Efrafa territory until finally reaching the warren. After Woundwort is presumed deceased, the Efrafan's join Watership Down Warren and the war is over. The next morning, Woundwort rises from the ruins of Efrafa, believing if destruction is his legacy, let it be such.
Plot[]
The Efrafan Owslafa flees the collapsing caverns leaving only Woundwort, Vervain, Moss, and a handful of officers alive. Realizing that not even the cave-in will stop General Woundwort from trying to destroy them, Hazel, Fiver, and Bigwig make preparations to wage war on Efrafa with the rabbits recruiting all their animal friends nearby, including Bark, Darkling and his bats and birds.
Fiver senses that Campion is not dead, and indeed the Efrafan captain manages to pull himself free from the rubble of the caverns, alive but horribly scarred, missing his right eye and half his ear. He meets the Black Rabbit of Inlé, who tells him his time has not yet come and that he has a special destiny in store for him.
Meanwhile in Efrafa, Moss, seeing that Woundwort is going mad, teams up with a doe named Heather to overthrow him, saying he's doing it for a presumed deceased Campion, convincing Heather to join Moss's rebellion, but then the Watership group attacks Efrafa in full force, causing Efrafa to cave in and the tree supporting the warren to fall, destroying Woundwort. The Efrafans are free from Woundwort at last. The next morning as Hazel, Bigwig and Fiver leave Efrafan's ruins, Woundwort is revealed to be alive, and Fiver senses this, but does not tell anyone.
