The Speaker of the Past is a character from the Watership Down animated TV series.
She is an eldery doe who does not participate in fighting, but instead teaches her students about the laws and Darkhaven's history. Her students are not bound by the usual Darkhaven laws of combat, but must still follow Darkhaven law. Those who break the laws are no longer protected by The Speaker, and can be punished.
She wears some kind of Elil skull on her head.
The Speaker of the Past did not participate in the final battle on Watership Down, leaving her fate unknown.

The Eyes of Silverweed[]
The Speaker of the Past is introduced when Spartina advises Blackberry to stay under her protection. She is pearched above her students on a rock, telling of the history of Darkhaven. She accepts Blackberry with no questions.
The Spy[]
When Vervain tells the Speaker of the Past that Blackberry is attempting to heal a wounded Granite, the Speaker tells Blackberry that if she continues she can no longer protect her as she has broken the law of Darkhaven. The Speaker then leaves Blackberry to be executed.

- Her voice actress is never credited.
- It is possible that she has a shaman-like role in Darkhaven, though she is never shown to have any mystic powers like Fiver or Silverweed.
