Marigold is Hickory's mate and the mother to his kittens in the TV series. She was actually the first rabbit to see through General Woundwort's guise when he first came to Redstone with Vervain. Marigold then overhears Woundwort's plan to destroy the rabbits of Redstone in exchange for Cowslip's seer, Silverweed. She is discovered and was nearly caught, but fakes her death after running in front of a car.
Marigold then races to Watership Down, warning them of Woundwort's return, and thanks to her Hazel and the other Watership Down rabbits arrive just in time to save Hickory and his rabbits.
Personality[]
Marigold was quite a timid doe, who lived in fear of the Shining Wire with other rabbits at Cowslip's warren. However, she longed for a better life, and along with Hickory, sought out Hazel to help them learn to survive and live as normal rabbits.
She grew in confidence and eventually left Cowslips warren for a new life at Redstone. She helped pass along what she learned to others in her group.
She became very strong willed during her time at Redstone. She refused to live in fear, and refused Hazel's offer of help when Redstone was overrun by Elil and stalked by Man. She did not like the pushy and overbearing nature of "Wheatstalk" and "Chaff" when they took refuge in the warren, and warned Hickory that they were dangerous. Once she learned their true natures, she faked her own death under a hrududu and ran to Hazel for help.
