"Marigold was right! I should've never trusted you!"
— Hickory finally realizing Wheatstock is Woundwort.

Hickory, also known as Hickory-Rah during leadership, is the former Chief Rabbit of Redstone Warren and former member of Cowslip's Warren. He is the mate of Marigold and the father of their kits.

Personality[]

Hickory appears to be gullible as when he lets Woundwort become leader of Redstone. He also appears to feel guilty at times as when he regrets making Woundwort leader but he can't turn back time. Hickory is friendly, smart and became brave over time. He also knows when things are wrong but usually does at the wrong time or just later than any other rabbit.

TV Series[]

Season 2[]

Hickory was one of the rabbits who were liberated from Cowslip's warren by the Watership Down rabbits. He and several other rabbits, including his mate Marigold, decided to live inside Primrose's old home of Redstone, And later had kits there.

Season 3[]

Hickory and his rabbits lived peaceful lives in Redstone until elil and man were attracted to the warren and were hunting for the rabbits living there. During this time, General Woundwort and Vervain (under the alias of Wheatstock and Chaff respectively), arrived there and, under the guise of helping them, attempted to turn Redstone into a warren controlled by force and not reason.

At first, Hickory was taken in by Woundwort's guise and it wasn't until it was too late that he found out the truth. Thanks to a bargain he made with Cowslip, who wanted revenge on his deserters, Woundwort tricked Hickory and the others rabbits at Redstone to stay put while their warren gets demolished by man, but Hazel and the others saved them in time. Hickory was reunited with Marigold, and they all now live with Hazel and the others on Watership Down.

Changes between seasons[]

Hickory originally is yellow with a white tuft of fur on his head, there's also white on his muzzle, chest and stomach. He has a darker nose-bridge and eyebrows. However in season 3, Hickory is brown but still has the white on him, his eyebrows are now dark brown and he lacks the nose-bridge colors.
