Captain Bugloss was the captain of the Right Flank Mark.

Holly and the other Watership Down rabbits were put into his Mark. Holly felt that Bugloss was conscientious and seemed like a nice enough fellow, but a bit weak at having to put up with more work than he could cope with.
Because Holly and the other Watership Down rabbits needed to escape Efrafa, Holly devised a plan inspired by an El-ahrairah story. One night, during silflay, Holly approached Bugloss and said that General Woundwort needed to see him, which was a lie. Although Bugloss was doubtful, he gave in when Holly continued the bluff. This allowed Holly's group to escape.
General Woundwort later demoted and expelled Bugloss from the Owsla for letting them escape.
