Burdock was the Chief Rabbit of a warren El-ahrairah encountered on his way back from meeting the Black Rabbit of Inlé. He first appears in chapter 9 (The Story of the Great Marsh) from Tales from Watership Down.

Burdock was a very relaxed yet, terrible leader of his warren. Often not thinking of ways to save his warren from disaster, solely because he never needed to do so for so long.

The Story of the Terrible Hay-Making[]

This story begins right after El-ahrairah leads Burdock’s warren across the great marsh to safety. When they get use to the new conditions and exploring their surroundings. They find that a farm is near by; with a cabbage patch and immediately go there and eat the vegetables without know the danger.
