This page is about the friendship between Bigwig and Hazel.
Overview[]

Hazel and Bigwig in season three of the TV series.
In the TV series, Bigwig both respects and disagrees with Hazel in many things at the start, but later comes to fully respect him as the Chief of Watership Down Warren. But thanks to Bigwig being impulsive, he leaves everyone under a bridge to join Efrafa and try to get Primrose and Blackavar out himself, managing to succeed after kicking Woundwort with his hind-legs when the latter climbed onto the boat they were using to escape.
Bigwig at times in season 3 watches Hazel's kits, Snowdrop, Gilia and Mallow. Hazel also often has to stop Bigwig from attacking others. Despite any disagreements Bigwig and Hazel may get into, they're still good friends overall and Bigwig won't stop being royal to him.

Hazel asks Bigwig if he made him leave the Owsla, Bigwig denies and explains how he was tired of being in the Owsla. Hazel decides to let Bigwig join, and he knows he won't let the buck run everything.
Later just before the departure, Bigwig brings a rabbit, Silver, with him to escape Sandleford.
At Cowslip's Warren, Bigwig starts losing faith in Hazel. When Bigwig gets caught in a snare, Hazel tells Fiver to run back to the warren and get anyone while he tries to get Bigwig out of the trap.
